The Camp

Success at Water Court
In June, the Camp received a signed Water Court Decree approving the use of the water necessary to operate the Camp. As a result of the ruling, the Camp will replace its consumptive use of water at the site with water from the Wolford Mountain Reservoir and Reudi Reservoir.

Medical Advisory Committee Meeting
Roundup River Ranch Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) chaired by Dr. Lia Gore met on June 21st at the Camp site to discuss the medical issues involved with the operations of the Camp. It was a very productive meeting. Dr. Wendy Cook attended the meeting on behalf of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps and her input was greatly appreciated. Thank you to each of the members of the MAC that attended. The next meeting of the MAC will be on September 13th at the Camp site.

OK Corral Receives $750,000 Gift

Roundup River Ranch recently received a $750,000 gift from Pete and Pat Frechette of Beaver Creek, Colo. and Minneapolis, Minn. With this gift, Roundup River Ranch surpasses 72 percent of its capital campaign goal, bringing the total in gifts and pledges received to approximately $14.25 million. "This contribution from the Frechettes takes us that much closer to our $20 million campaign goal and our dream of creating a magical place for kids with serious illnesses," said Executive Director Ruth Johnson. "We are so grateful for their generosity and passion for our mission."

Upgraded Status with the Hole in the Wall Camps
Roundup River Ranch has recently been accepted as a provisional member of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps. As a member of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, the Roundup River Ranch is following a set of guidelines that are designed to assure that all camps in this association provide the highest level of safety and programming for the children and has sound financial support. In light of the Camp's excellent progress, the Hole in the Wall Camp Board welcomed Roundup River Ranch as its newest provisional member this fall. As a provisional member, the board and staff will receive increased support from the Association and other member camps. This is the final step before becoming a full member of the Hole in the Wall Camps - the world's largest family of camps for children with serious illnesses.

Site for Camp is gifted to Roundup River Ranch
Two of our most committed supporters recently gifted a stunning 85 acre property to Roundup River Ranch.  This site on the Colorado River, just outside of Dotsero, Colorado, will be the perfect setting for camping experiences for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses. Every time we bring people to visit this beautiful site, we can see the smiles and hear the laughter of thousands of children whose lives will be transformed by this Camp experience. We are so appreciative of this incredible gift and look forward to breaking ground in 2009.
